The player of Robo Aleste is flying forward as enemies approach from the front, sides, and back in the genre-defining vertical-scrolling shooter style. The player can advance only after defeating the boss at the end of each level. One of the opposing lords is each boss. There are a variety of weapons and power-ups that can be gathered, just like in most scrolling shooters.
Musha Aleste's main Kunai hit, three supporting weapons, and a fourth supporting weapon all reappeared with more force. The player always has two unstoppable units with their own secondary weapons. The entire subsystem has been redesigned. New secondary weapons that attack from a variety of angles have replaced warship command. Sub-ships can also be fired at your adversary.
Each time the player loses a life, Aleste will revert to having only primary and secondary attacks. The player must gather little power-ups that fall from a specific kind of friendly ship in order to bolster the main weapon. More knives, up to four, can be fired in a single shot as more chips are gathered. Eventually, Aleste will be able to shoot stronger fireballs.
