Battlecorps

By commanding a "Biped Assault Machine," Battlecorps aims to free a planet from an infected AI system and its army of robots. Usually, this entails taking out specific targets or surviving while traveling. Once every life has been lost, the game is over.

Sprite scaling is a key component of Battlecorps' simulation of the 3D environment. But unlike a game like Doom, this tool rarely uses paint to create flat surfaces; instead, it simulates them by lining up a series of substantial textures.

The ceiling is never shown, despite the fact that many states make up for it by taking place entirely outside. In Battlecorps, a certain amount of Y-axis control allows players to attack flying enemies or "bare" turrets.
