Cutthroat Island is a platform game based on the 1995 film of the same name developed by Software Creations and published by Acclaim Entertainment in 1995 for the Game Boy, Game Gear, Genesis, and Super Nintendo Entertainment System. When the game was first released, players could find hidden treasure chests in the game and enter a contest for real-world prizes.
The player can choose between two characters: Morgan Adams, a sword-wielding female character; or William Shaw, a cryptanalyst armed with a sword. The game features single-player and two-player action modes, and there are two different play styles to choose from Swordplay and Brawling. The player's character must fight through 10 levels, encountering many different enemies such as pirates, red shirts, and harbor owners. In addition to all the swordplay levels, level two requires the player to flee from the warden in a stone wagon and level five takes the player to the top of a fleeing chariot. As the player progresses in the game, a number of items such as knives, bombs, bottles, torches, hammers, pistols, and other weapons can be collected. Have a good time!
