Sega Genesis published the racing and fighting video game Road Rash in 1991. Electronic Arts created it and handle distribution (EA). The game consists of a series of motocross races that the player must win in order to go on to more challenging races. In order to slow the riders down, the player engages in both unarmed and armed fighting.
Road Rash was one of the first games the company came up with once EA decided to start in-house game development. The NES game's programmers, Dan Geisler and Carl Mey were hired by EA to create the silvery line effects for Mario Andretti Racing.
When the NES failed to deliver, the focus shifted to a Sega Genesis racing game. The game's combat was inspired by Grand Prix riders' violent demeanor, and the resulting genre misunderstanding prompted a team fracture. Managing the EA.
