Tecmo Super Bowl (USA)

A video game based on American football called Tecmo Super Bowl was released in December 1991 for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES).
Each team had at least twenty players in the previous Tecmo Bowl for the NES, or twenty-one if the kicker wasn't the starter, with nine players attacking, nine playing defense, and one player doing both kicking and hitting.

Each squad in the Tecmo Super Bowl consists of thirty unique players. There are 11 defensive players on each side that are both unreplaceable and healthy. There are seventeen attacking players in each squad, plus six and eleven substitutes. Each team has eleven players on the field at all times.

For each NFL squad, as well as the two Pro Bowl teams, players can alter their offensive strategy and make substitutions. The rosters of Pro Bowl teams are editable. Players on the offensive, defense and special teams can all be thought of as individual "player cards."
