With four players on two teams, Euchre is a trick-taking game where the highest card wins the trick.
Each player has a turn playing a single card, with the highest card in the suit leading to determining who takes the trick unless a trump card has already been played.
In contrast to whist, one team must win the majority of tricks in a given hand by naming trump. The game progresses through multiple rounds until one team reaches 10 points.
Euchre is played using a modified set of 24 playing cards. Each suit contributes its 9, 10, Jack, Queen, King, and Ace to the total.
While the joker is used in certain variants, this particular version does not. The first dealer is selected at random, and in subsequent rounds, the player to the original dealer's left takes over as dealer.
